Emiel & Gerda

We met -very cliché- through work. Soon we felt that we would prefer to be together every day. But that was difficult. Emiel lived in Westbeemster in North Holland and Gerda in Leeuwarden in Friesland.

Schoorl

Every weekend when we were together in North Holland we went mountain biking, hiking and kitesurfing in Schoorl. A nice day was often ended in a nice beach club. We felt that this might be a nice place of and for us together.

FROM RUIN TO DREAM HOUSE

It soon became clear that buying a house in Schoorl was not easy. So when this place with a construction site on it came up for sale, we were sold. We were going to build our own house. Since we were also allowed to build a vacation home, the idea arose. Not only for our dear family and friends but also to be able to receive fine guests.

THE FEET

How did we come up with the name of our vacation home? For us, the Whatsapp emoji feet were a frequently used symbol when we were emailing each other.
Being outdoors, surfing, mountain biking, hiking, sea and beach, experiencing the seasons, being FREE and especially enjoying a lot! This is what these feet symbolize for us. And so the name “THE FEETJES” was born.

Since the end of 2024, the vacation home is ready. We enjoy our place to the fullest every day and of course it is great fun to share it with others who are just as excited about it as we are.
